Counter-IED
Improvised electronic circuits and home made explosives (HME) are prevalent on the battlefield today, both domestically and overseas. Understanding the risks and tool options are critical when IED’s contain electronic circuits that utilize commercial off the shelf (COTS) components and HME. EOD Technicians must fully realize the characteristics of these dangerous materials in order to handle them safely and eliminate the hazards they present.
The C-IED course is 10 days in length consisting of more than 70% practical training which promotes maximum retention of information and increases a technicians scope of experience. This course will provide the EOD technician with the information and training needed to increase capability when taking action against terrorist improvised explosive devices on the battlefield.
Training Topics
- Threat Assessment (Conventional/HME/Cat A)
- IED Electronics (Classroom and Practical)
- IED Circuit diagnostics
- Manual Access Techniques
